A standardized inspection methodology for AGL electrical rooms, CCR rooms, control rooms, and associated electrical/control equipment areas — verifying room environmental conditions, equipment accessibility, cabinet condition, cable and control-wiring integrity, auxiliary supplies, emergency lighting, housekeeping, and electrical/fire safety. The electrical/CCR room is the operational center of the AGL power system, so inspection must confirm both room condition and the underlying electrical conditions necessary for safe, reliable operation.
Safety control — Internal CCR inspection shall only be performed by authorized/competent personnel under the applicable electrical isolation, LOTO, and safety procedure. Routine visual checks must not be interpreted as authorization to access energized equipment. A routine room inspection must never inadvertently become unauthorized energized electrical work.
Inspection of the overall room condition, housekeeping, accessibility, and equipment surroundings, including identification of unauthorized stored materials, floor and wall/ceiling condition, and evidence of water leakage or ingress that could affect electrical equipment.
Verification that room ventilation and HVAC equipment are functioning adequately, that vents/louvers/filters are unobstructed, and that room conditions support appropriate CCR and control-equipment cooling.
Verification that room temperature and humidity remain within applicable equipment/environmental requirements, review of temperature monitoring or historical records where available, and identification of condensation on equipment, panels, walls, or cables.
Verification that authorized personnel can safely access the room, that doors, locks and access-control arrangements are functional, that emergency exits remain accessible, and that required working clearances around electrical equipment are maintained free of obstruction.
Inspection of the external condition of the CCR cabinet — enclosure, doors, ventilation openings, cooling fans, warning labels, identification, corrosion, and evidence of water or moisture ingress.
Inspection of accessible internal areas of the CCR cabinet under approved safe conditions — cleanliness, moisture, corrosion, visible component condition, internal cable routing, terminal condition, and control wiring. Level 2 — restricted to authorized/competent personnel under the applicable electrical isolation and LOTO procedure.
Verification that panel identification, circuit identification, warning signs, equipment-rating labels, and cable/control-wire identification are present, accurate, legible, and durable.
Inspection of accessible cable terminations for visible damage, deterioration, or contamination, including cable glands, sealing against dust/moisture, strain relief, routing/support, segregation between circuit types, and mechanical protection.
Inspection of AGL control wiring associated with CCRs and control systems — routing and support, accessible terminations, wire/circuit identification, damaged or loose wiring, segregation from power circuits, and interfaces with control panels, PLCs, or ALCMS. Accessible terminations and internal interfaces fall under Level 2 authorization.
Inspection of auxiliary electrical supplies supporting AGL equipment, including associated panels, protective devices, accessible connections, supply/circuit identification, failure indication or alarm, and applicable UPS/backup and battery-system condition.
Verification of adequate general room lighting, emergency-lighting availability and condition, applicable backup arrangement, functional operation in accordance with the applicable maintenance procedure, illuminated emergency-exit signage, and lighting-fixture condition.
Verification that required fire extinguishers, fire/smoke detection equipment, fire-alarm interface, emergency equipment, safety signage, PPE, and electrical safety equipment are available, accessible, and in acceptable condition.
The room-level checklist spine underlying all 12 topics above — every electrical/CCR room should be assessed, where relevant, against each of the following areas.

UnserviceableEquipment or system is not available for its intended function.
Immediate Action RequiredCondition presents an operational, electrical, safety, or airside risk requiring immediate escalation/action.
Level 1 — Routine visual/operational
Level 2 — Authorized electrical/internal only

Quick answers about electrical room / ccr room inspection in the AGL Inspection Handbook.
Division 19 contains 12 published topics giving a standardized inspection methodology for AGL electrical rooms, CCR rooms, control rooms and associated electrical and control equipment areas. It verifies room environmental conditions, accessibility, cabinet condition, cable and control-wiring integrity, auxiliary supplies, emergency lighting, housekeeping, and electrical and fire safety.
The electrical or CCR room is the operational center of the AGL power system, so the inspection confirms both the condition of the room and the underlying electrical condition of the equipment in it.
Level 1 is a routine visual and operational inspection covering housekeeping, access, water leakage, ventilation, temperature, external cabinet condition and labels, visible cable condition, emergency lighting, fire equipment, safety signage and working clearance. Level 2 is for authorized electrical personnel only and covers CCR internal components and terminals, electrical connections and control wiring, internal protection and cooling components, and electrical measurements, tightness and tests.
Under the applicable airport procedure, the division lists water entering or threatening CCR or electrical equipment, smoke, burning smell, arcing or overheating evidence, exposed energized conductors, major cabinet damage or loss of required ventilation or cooling, abnormally high room temperature, fire-system deficiency or a blocked emergency exit, inadequate electrical working clearance, significant cable damage or loss of a critical auxiliary supply, and any unsafe electrical condition.
Every observation is assigned one of four statuses. Normal means the equipment or condition is satisfactory and operating as expected. Defective means an abnormality or defect exists but the equipment remains operational or the condition does not require immediate withdrawal. Unserviceable means the equipment or system is not available for its intended function. Immediate Action Required means the condition presents an operational, electrical, safety or airside risk requiring immediate escalation and action.
The record includes the date and time, inspector name and designation, room or area inspected, equipment or system inspected and its identification and location, observations, status classification, defect description where applicable, immediate action taken, person or department notified, corrective-action reference, and closure date and time with inspector sign-off.
Yes. This handbook is an uncontrolled educational reference, not an approved procedure. The airport's approved inspection schedule, SMS procedures, ATC instructions, NOTAM procedures and local aerodrome regulations always take precedence, and the current revision of any official document should be verified before use.
Yes. Each inspection topic has a Download as Word option that produces an uncontrolled Word checklist template (description, a tick-box inspection table and an inspector sign-off block) for personal reference and internal training, to be reviewed and adopted under the user’s own document control.
Electrical room and CCR room inspection is where housekeeping, thermal and protective-device condition awareness begins. Go beyond identifying defects and build the technical knowledge to understand why abnormalities occur, how they affect system serviceability, and when further testing, troubleshooting, maintenance or corrective action is required.
