Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about using the AGL Quiz Center and earning your certificate.

Q1What is the pass mark for the AGL certification exam?

A score of 70% or higher in an Exam Mode attempt of at least 25 questions qualifies for a downloadable self-assessment certificate.

Q2What topics does the AGL Quiz Center cover?

Runway lighting, taxiway lighting, approach lighting, PAPI, CCR, isolating transformers, connectors, AGL control, ICAO and FAA standards, testing, and troubleshooting.

Q3Is there a free practice mode?

Yes. Learning Mode shows explanations immediately after each answer with no timer, ideal for study before attempting the timed Exam Mode.

Q4What difficulty levels are available?

Four tiers: Beginner, Engineer, Specialist, and Expert/Master. You can practice by level or by topic category.

Q5What's the difference between Learning Mode and Exam Mode?

Learning Mode has no timer and shows the explanation immediately after each answer, so it's for studying. Exam Mode is timed and gives a pass/fail assessment at the end, with a downloadable self-assessment certificate if you score 70% or higher on an attempt of 25 or more questions.

Q6How do I get my certificate?

Complete an Exam Mode attempt of at least 25 questions and score 70% or higher, then enter the name you want on the certificate to generate it. You can download it as a PNG or share it to LinkedIn.

Q7Is my quiz progress saved if I exit partway through?

No. Exiting a quiz before it's finished loses the current attempt, and progress is not saved.

Q8Is there an AGL quiz for technicians?

Yes. The quizzes cover practical AGL topics such as CCRs, series circuits, PAPI, photometry and troubleshooting, so technicians can use them to test fault-finding and maintenance knowledge as well as standards. Start with a practice quiz, then try Exam Mode to check readiness.
