500 reference questions on the electrical heart of an AGL installation: constant current regulators, brightness control and current steps, primary, series and secondary circuits, circuit protection, CCR monitoring, remote control and ALCMS integration, with the fault-finding, commissioning and compliance thinking behind each.
Every question traces back to one of ten CCR and electrical topics, from the regulator itself and its brightness steps through primary, series and secondary circuits to protection, monitoring, remote control and ALCMS integration. The bank leans toward working-engineer depth, with troubleshooting, scenario and commissioning questions alongside the definitions.

Short answers about the CCR & electrical systems question bank, how the drill and scoring work, and the core equipment it covers.
It is a 500-question reference and drill on the electrical side of airfield ground lighting: constant current regulators (CCRs), brightness control and current steps, primary, series and secondary circuits, circuit protection, CCR monitoring, remote control and ALCMS integration. Every question has a model answer, an explanation and tagged key terms, and the whole bank is searchable, filterable and drillable on this page.
Ten topics: Constant Current Regulators (90), Brightness Control (40), Current Steps (40), Primary Circuits (45), Series Circuits (80), Secondary Circuits (40), Circuit Protection (45), CCR Monitoring (45), Remote Control (35), ALCMS Integration (40).
Four levels: Beginner (71), Intermediate (219), Advanced (187) and Expert (23). The bank is weighted toward working-engineer depth, with about 86% of questions at Intermediate or above. If terminology is still new, start with the AGL Fundamentals bank first.
Technical explanation (340), scenario-based (73), troubleshooting (48), multiple choice (17), interview-style (12) and short answer (10). Troubleshooting and scenario questions together make up about 24% of the bank.
Drill Mode gives a shuffled run through the bank, filtered by level and topic if you choose. Type your own answer and check it, or just reveal the model answer. Multiple-choice cards are answered by picking an option. Typed answers are marked with weighted key-term matching (with stemming and typo tolerance) plus overall wording overlap. It is a close local approximation of a marker, not true AI grading, so use it to spot gaps rather than as a formal assessment.
A CCR supplies a regulated, constant current to an AGL series circuit. Because every lamp transformer in the loop carries the same current, brightness is set by changing the current step rather than by switching individual lights, and the CCR raises or lowers its output voltage as circuit resistance changes to hold that current.
Under FAA AC 150/5345-10H, the class describes the rated output current (Class 1 is 6.6 A and Class 2 is 20 A) and the style describes the number of brightness steps (Style 1 has three steps and Style 2 has five). The bank covers how these are specified, selected and verified in the field.
An ALCMS (Airport Lighting Control and Monitoring System) lets operators control and monitor airport lighting from one or more authorised locations, typically through operator interfaces, control logic, field I/O and communication links to CCRs. The final topic in the bank covers its architecture, integration and troubleshooting.
Answers are framed mainly against FAA advisory circulars: AC 150/5345-10H for CCRs (cited in 245 questions), AC 150/5340-26C for maintenance (cited in 146), AC 150/5340-30J for installation (cited in 111), AC 150/5345-47C for isolation transformers (cited in 50) and AC 150/5345-56B for the L-890 ALCMS (cited in 45), with ICAO material and manufacturer or project documents in others. Many answers are deliberately worded as subject to the applicable standard, so always check the current edition that governs your project.
Yes. Alongside 12 interview-style questions, the 48 troubleshooting and 73 scenario questions mirror how technical interviewers probe fault-finding, commissioning and circuit-protection judgement on CCR-fed series circuits.
